This girl is absolutely stunning and I love the idea for the advert itself, but why oh why does it say 1940's! I saw the end product and although the bangs looked great, it was the volume and curls that ruined it for me. It's such a shame since they could have created a much more authentic 40's look like the title said.
Here's the video in case you haven't seen it before. I think you can tell by the comments on YouTube that other people have the same views on its likeness to a real 40's hair do. Thoughts?
If you're not familiar with hairstyles from the 40's/50's, here are few of my favourites in the form of Betty Grable & Rita Hayworth.Note the much looser curl and lack of that much volume, just the victory rolls.

Would you try the hairstyle in the video? Does it make you want to buy the product?

I'm so glad someone else has also noticed this. Greatly bugs me
ReplyDeleteHii i love your blog..and now i follow you!! Please follow back? xoxoari
ReplyDeleteI've not seen it before, but I wouldn't call it 40s at all. It looks almost 60s beehive-y with all that volume at the crown.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I probably can't talk because despite dressing in mainly 50s clothes, I never have era-appropriate hair :) (because I'm lazy and rubbish at hair stuff)

Saw the ad,it screamed fifties to me.x.
ReplyDeleteHiya LoV,
ReplyDeleteI am loving your website, and yes I too thought the advert was misleading - more like an ad for the girl's singing talents maybe? My nan had a 40's look and re-created it for me for a VE Day party many years ago and it looked nothing like the girl in the ad lol

Thank you, I took one look at this, loved the idea but with the short, blunt fringe it is definitely a 50s vibe she has going on...
